HAITI, RISE!
words and music by Joseph Kablaya Buckley, (click for e-mail) arr. Jacqui Hairston c-2010
This is the song written in 2010 by the celebrated musician, Kablaya, when Haiti's earthquake struck his soul. On July 29, 2013 Kablaya went to Haiti for the first time, having already been a strong supporter of the scholarship program, "HOPE FOR HAITI:EDUCATION", keeping 100 at-risk children in school from Gran Ravine, an impoverished area of the capital, Port-au-Prince.
He threw a party on Aug. 4 in Gran Ravin for the students, teachers, and volunteer managers. He sang his song, translated by Lolo Reagan, to everyone's delight.
Tom Luce, [email protected], accompanied Kablaya.
